Is there any way I can get a serial device to convert to a networkable device?

I have a BarCode Blaster wrist band printer that is serial printer. I need to have it made a networkable device. I have connected it to a Lantronix Universal Device Server via a DB9-Male/DB25 connector. Is it possible to make this networkable?

  1. Yes it is quite possible. Check the sources for links to a couple solutions.
  2. Sure, when you go into Control Panel, click Printers. Right click on the printer and right click the printer you want. Then click the "Sharing..." option. That will allow you to share the printer on your network via the server. Just search for when you look to add a printer on another computer. Just make sure you're not looking for a "local printer" but a "networked printer" when you do so.
  3. probably. i would need more info on the device server. does it have an assigned ip address or does it use dhcp? still have the documentation? the name of the device server seems to imply that is was made to meet your current need. what kind of troubles are you having?
