What's the difference between brunet and brunette?

Besides the obvious difference in spelling, of course.

1. Brunette has an extra t and an extra e on the end, whereas brunet only has one of each.
2. Brunet is the colour when you're referring to males, brunette is the colour when referring to females. In English we don't really differentiate, but that would be the difference linguistically.
