What is the difference between a day care/learning center from a School District?
I just read that in the School District of Philadelphia that if the child enrolls school prior the age of 8, the child becomes of compulsory age and must continue to attend school. Is it the same with Learning Centers? My Husband has a court ordered agreement with the mother of his child to shared custody until the age 4 however the mother just enrolled the child(age of 3) into a learning center, and is asking for full custody of the child due to the circumstances she has already been enrolled to "school". Not to mention she violated his rights in not even informing him about HER decision regarding THEIR child. All your professional and personal experience advise is greatly appreciated.

- Well, it is best to have a lawyer look into it, but here goes: No. The learning centers are preschools and often just day care centers. The 'schools' they are referring to would be actual school education system schools. Those that are actually controlled and funded by the district. K-3 for 5-8 year olds. Preschools and day cares shouldn't count unless possibly they are preschools controlled by the school system. Contact the Board of Education or whatever it is and ask them if that particular center counts as a "school" for that purpose. I wouldn't think so. Her claim is a reach.
